MESSAGE FOR CONTEMPLATION 739
Radhe krishna,
Good morning & have a blessed day, TIME IS FLEETING Swami Sivananda The night is wasted is sleep and other pleasures. The day is wasted in idle talk, amassing money and maintaining the family. Days, months and years are rolling away. Hairs become grey. Teeth have fallen. You are still attached to the perishable articles of this world through Moha, infatuated love. How long you like to remain slaves to these fleeting pleasures? How long you intend to repeat the same sensual enjoyments? How long you like to worship mammon and woman? If you waste your precious time in this manner, when will you find time to meditate on the Lord and to do virtuous deeds ? Think and reflect. The objective in my saying all this is, first and foremost, not negative. It is not negative. It is not to make you feel small. It is not to give a hint that I have a very poor opinion of aspirants and Sadhaks. Far, far from it. You are people of great worth. Many times you have heard me refer to you as the “salt of the earth”. You are people of great worth. So there is no question that I have a poor opinion of you or that I want to make you feel small. Not at all. Nor is it my intention to make you feel guilty of having wasted away a God-given golden opportunity and allowed time to slip by. These are not my intentions, though such meanings may be automatically involved in my exhortations. Far from these things, the objective of my exhortations is that you may be up and doing, that you may become alert. It is to alert you that I say these things. It is to make you intensely aware of an important thing that has got to be done. It is to make you intensely aware. And it is to bring about a keenness and a zest in your attitude towards your daily life, in your attitude towards your daily programme, in your feeling, in your relationship with your spiritual progress, so that you may start being vigorous and progressive when this month ends It is to prepare you ' Just as before a race, on the starting line, all the participants are poised, with every muscle taut, breath held, so that immediately the signal goes, like a bullet shot out of the gun, they may leap into the race. So, all this talk is a preparation for what is being given to you as a great gift, a wonderful year made out of twelve virgin months, each month consisting of no less than thirty days-except February and each day made up of twenty-four hours. swami chidananda There are three grades of Self: The real, secondary and false. The real is the Atman which is universal; the secondary is the person or thing which one likes or dislikes; the false is the aggregate of the five sheaths. Meditation disentangles the real from the secondary and the false. - Swami Krishnananda Chant the Maha Mantra Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare BE HAPPY.
