ALCHEMY OF PRAYER

Prayer that comes from a sincere, pure heart is at once heard by the Lord. As soon as you get up from the bed, pray to the Lord who is the creator and ruler of this universe, who is all-pervading and imperishable, who sustains you and removes all your troubles. Sometimes the main object of prayer becomes selfish, grossly earthy, and unreasonable. We crave for our selfish ends, for the fulfilment of our material desires. At times, we even venture to pray to meet our evil wish. It is here we experience its negative consequences. Essentially, prayer should be selfless as far as possible.

Abandon luxury. Luxury intoxicates like strong liquors. It makes you sick and disgusted. It gives you pain and discomfort when you do not get the desired objects. It is an enemy of peace, devotion and knowledge.
