On the other hand, it is only through selfless activity that one could acquire the precious gems of purity, patience and humility. Humility especially comes through service alone. In this connexion, it is of great profit to remember one point of immense practical value, i.e., of all virtues, humility forms the basis. It is only when a man is humble and feels that there is much which he does not possess and has to acquire, that there arises in him the eager desire to grow into those noble qualities he is deficient in. Here begins his systematic endeavour and attempt to acquire and possess them.

Lead a life of simplicity and purity. Remember the Lord always. Have a fixed period for
prayeLrs and Japa. Respect elders. Entertain guests. Serve thy neighbour. Lead an ideal life. Be an

example to others.

It is the intensity of the desires in the mind that causes the intensity of the heaving of the breath. The more disturbed we are in our mind, the more rough and uneven is our breathing. There is no harmony in the inhaling and the expulsion of the breath in a person who is emotionally disturbed and who is in a state of tension inwardly.
