THREE QUALITIES OF MIND

Swami Sivananda

There are three Gunas or qualities in the mind, viz., purity, passion and inertia. When purity preponderates, man is calm and serene. When passion (activity) predominates, he is agitated or excited. When inertia preponderates, he is dull and foolish. Control inertia through activity. Control passion through purity. Control purity by purity itself.

If an aspirant is sincere and earnest, God will help him. A Sadhak or an aspirant should
completely surrender himself to the Lord. He should feel that he is only an instrument in the hands

of God. Such a one is bound to have success in the spiritual path.
