Devutthana Ekadashi on Friday, November 4, 1922

पंचांग के अनुसार देवउठनी एकादशी तिथि 3 नवंबर 2022 को शाम 7 बजकर 30 मिनट से शुरू हो जाएगी देवउत्थान एकादशी तिथि का समापन 4 नवंबर 2022 को शाम 6 बजकर 8 मिनट पर होगा। उदया​तिथि के अनुसार देवउठनी एकादशी का व्रत 4 नवंबर को ही रखा जाएगा। वही देवउठनी एकादशी व्रत का पारण 5 नवंबर को सुबह 6 बजकर 39 मिनट से सुबह 8 बजकर 52 मिनट तक किया जाएगा। 

 

 On the 11th Day or Ekadashi of Shukla Paksh in the month of Karthik, the festival of Dev Uthani Ekadashi is celebrated. It is also called Prabodhani Ekadashi.

It is believed that on this day Lord Vishnu had woken up after a rest of four
months. Hence, this day marks the end of Chaturmaas.

This day is considered as a very auspicious day and marriages take place on this day all over India. All auspicious work that could not be done during the Chaturmaas are started on this day.

The Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha, Kartik Masa is known as Devthan Ekadashi or Dev Uthani Ekadashi. At some places it is also called Prabodhini Ekadashi. There is a popular belief about Devthan Ekadashi. Lord Vishnu concluded his rest of four months ..
The Devas and Saints visit Lord Vishnu and inform him about the robbery of the Vedas by a Demon named Shankhyayan. The demon had committed this act in order to deprive the human beings about the knowledge of the Vedas and spread Adharma all around. On hearing this, Lord Vishnu promised the sages that he would get back the Vedas. After fighting for several days with Demon Shankhyayan, he was successful in getting the Vedas back. He returned the Vedas to Goddess Lakshmi, Devas and Saints. Additionally, he insisted on continuing with a long sleep but only for four months.
This sleep started from Ashadha Shuddha Ekadashi until Kartik Shuddha Ekadashi, which is also known as Prabhodhini Ekadashi or Dev Uthani Ekadashi. Various pujas and prayers are carried on this day dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The important Pandarpur Yatra also takes place on this day in Lord Vithal Temple. The most popular Tulsi Vivah Festival and Shaligram Puja rituals also commence on Prabhodhini Ekadashi in some regions while in other communities, they take place on the day after Ekadashi. By observing the Prabhodhini Ekadashi vrat, devotees believe that they would be able to get rid off their sins and attain salvation, or Moksha. At some places, devotees observe a complete fast, that is, they do not eat anything or even drink water on this day.

• On the day of Dev Uthani Ekadashi a special puja is performed with the following items like; limestone called chuna, red colored soil called geru, rice called chawal, roli and moli which are colored threads, fruits, jiggery called gur, radish, gwar ki phalli, cotton wool, lamp or Deepak, matchstick or money.

The methods of the puja of Dev Uthani Ekadashi are:

• The courtyard or the room should be cleaned and with limestone or chuna and with geru the image of Dev or the deity should be drawn.

• In the evening puja is done with water, roli, moli which are the colored thread, rice, fruits, gut, cotton, banana, gwar ki phalli, mooli, money etc.

• The Deepak or the home made soil lamps are then lit and devotional songs are sung.

• People perform Tulsiji ka Vivah on this day with Shaligram. It the most important part of the puja.

देवात्थान एकादशी, तुलसी विवाह एवं भीष्म पंचक देवोतथान एकादशी:-

कार्तिक शुक्ल पक्ष की एकादशी देवोत्थान, तुलसी विवाह एवं भीष्म पंचक एकादशी के रूप में मनाई         जाती है ।
कहा जाता हैकि भगवान विष्णु आषाढ शुक्ल एकादशी को चार माह के लिए क्षीर सागर में शयन करते है  चार माह उपरान्त कार्तिक शुक्ल एकादशी को जागते है । विष्णु के शयन काल के चार  मासो में विवाहादि मांगलिक कार्य वर्जित रहते है । विष्णुजी के जागने बाद ही सभी मांगलिक कार्य शुरू किये जाते है । कार्तिक मास मे जो मनुष्य तुलसी का विवाह भगवान से करते है । उनके पिछलो जन्मो के सब पाप नष्ट हो जाते है ।

 तुलसी विवाह
कार्तिक मास में स्नान करने वाले स्त्रियाँ कार्तिक शुक्ल एकादशी का शालिग्राम और तुलसी का विवाह रचाती है । समस्त विधि विधान पुर्वक गाजे बाजे के साथ एक सुन्दर मण्डप के नीचे यह कार्य सम्पन्न होता है विवाह के स्त्रियाँ गीत तथा भजन गाती है ।
मगन भई तुलसी राम गुन गाइके मगन भई तुलसी ।
सब कोऊ चली डोली पालकी रथ जुडवाये के ।।
साधु चले पाँय पैया, चीटी सो बचाई के ।
मगन भई तुलसी राम गुन गाइके ।।

भीष्म पंचक
यह व्रत कार्तिक शुक्ल एकादशी से प्रारम्भ होकर पूर्णिमा तक चलाया है । कार्तिक सनान करने वाली स्त्रियाँ या पुरूष निराहार रहकर व्रत करते है।
विधानः ”ऊँ नमो भगवने वासुदेवाय“ मंत्र से भगवान कृष्ण की पूजा की जाती है । पाँच दिनो तक लगातार घी का दीपक जलता रहना चाहीए।“ ”ऊँ विष्णुवे नमः स्वाहा“ मंत्र से घी, तिल और जौ की १०८ आहुतियो देते हुए हवन करना चाहीए ।
कथाः महाभारत का युद्ध समाप्त हाने पर जिस समय भीष्म पितामह सूर्य के उत्तरायण होन की प्रतिक्षा मे शरशया पर शयन कर रहे थे । तक भगवान कृष्ण पाँचो पांडवो को साथ लेकर उनके पास गये थे । उपयुक्त अवसर जानकर युंधिष्ठर ने भीष्म पितामह ने पाँच दिनो तक राज धर्म, वर्णधर्म मोक्षधर्म आदि पर उपदेश दिया था । उनका उपदेश सुनकर श्रीकृष्ण सन्तुष्ट हुए और बोले, ”पितामह! आपने शुक्ल एकादशी से पूर्णिमा तक पाँच दिनों में जो धर्ममय उपदेश दिया है उससे मुझे बडी प्रसन्नता हुई है मै इसकी स्मृति में आफ नाम पर भीष्म पंचक व्रत स्थापित करता हूँ ।
जो लोग इसे करेगे वे जीवन भर विविध सुख भोगकर अन्त में मोक्ष प्राप्त करेगे ।
