.THE MONTH OF KARTIK
Kartik month is known as Damodar month, Lord Radharaman is the Damodar Shila. Secondly, Kartik is known as Raas Month, Radharaman dev is Raman Nath. Hence, He is the Lord of Kartik month. By serving Radharaman only, one receives spiritual advancement

The month long Kartik festival starts on 29th 0ctober to 27th nov 2023.During this time pilgrims come from far and wide to offer a candle to Mother Yasoda and Lord Krishna. The importance of this month is described extensively in the scriptures, especially in Srila Rupa Goswami’s Mathura Mahatmya.The Puranas (Vedic histories) extol the month of Kartik as the topmost in the calendar. Lord Krishna’s mercy is very easily accessible in this month and to demonstrate their sincerity devotees accept different austerities such as fasting, cutting down on non-essential activities and offering charity. Worship of Tulsi and serving Lord Krishna’s cows is especially glorified.
Every day, devotees come to the Temple or home and offer a candle or ghee lamp to Lord Damodara. The Damodarastakam, a series of eight beautiful verses by the great sage Satyavrata Muni is sung daily in the morning and evening.Morning: 7 AM & Evening: 7 PM “In this endeavor there is no loss or diminution, and a little advancement on this path can protect one from the most dangerous type of fear.”
Kartik (Damodar)...The Holiest Month
Kartik (Damodar) is the best, the purest of purifiers, and most glorious of all months. Kartik month is particularly dear to Lord Sri Krishna. This month is full of bhakta vatsalya. Any vrata, even the smallest, will yield huge results. The effect of performing a Kartik Vrata lasts for one hundred lifetimes, Kartik or the festival of offering lamps to Lord Krishna, glorifies Lord Krishna’s pastime of being bound with ropes by Mother Yashoda.

Everybody should follow following practices in Kartik (Damodar) month:
1. Daily offer a ghee lamp to Krishna and sing the Damodarastakam, meditating on meaning.
2. One should always remember Supreme Lord Hari. Devotees should try to do more Harinam Chanting. Do extra rounds and more kirtana.
3. Hear Srimad Bhagavatam, daily in association of exalted Vaisnavas, if possible. All other duties should be given up in favor of hearing the scriptures from sadhus during this month. It is most beneficial to recite and read Gajendra Moksha Lila-stava from 8th canto of Srimad Bhagavatam, which teaches complete surrender/dependence of Supreme Lord.
4. Eat only prasadam.
5. Daily recite Siksastaka of Sriman Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and meditate on its meaning. Read the commentary on Sikastaka by Bhaktivinod Thakur.
6. Daily Read the the Updeshamrata of Srila Rupa Goswami .
7. Daily offer lamp to Tulsi devi and pray for eternal residence in Vrndavana and eternal service of the lotus feet of Radha and Krishna. Do 4 parikrama (circumbulation) of Tulasi.
8. Make nice offerings for Krishna. Devotees should observe the festival of Annakuta, Giriraj Govardhan Puja.
9. Associate more with devotees.
10. Practice brahmacharya – celibacy.
11. Perform austerities.
Following are excerpts from some scriptures (Puranas) describing the glory of the pious Kartik month:
“If somebody performs even a little worship of Lord Shri Hari in this month, He offers that devotee His own abode.”
“If somebody burns a lamp in the temple of Lord Shri Hari even for a short time (in the month of Kartik), then whatever sins, he has acquired for millions of kalpas (one kalpa equals 1000 yugas) are all destroyed.”
“A person, who for the entire month of Kartik eats only once a day, becomes very famous, powerful and heroic.”
“A person who happily reads the Bhagavad Gita in the month of Kartik does not return to the world of birth and death.”
“Of all gifts, the gift of a lamp during the month of Kartik is the best. No gift is its equal.”
“The pious result obtained by bathing in all holy places and giving all charities is not equal to one ten-millionth part of the result obtained by following the vow of Kartik."

कार्तिक मास में भगवान श्रीकृष्ण को माँ यशोदा ने रस्सियो से
बांधा था इसलिए यह मास दामोदर मास भी कहलाता है इस
मास में कोई भी भगवान के समक्ष दीपदान
करता है तो उसके एक हजार युगों के पाप भी नष्ट हो जाते
है। दीप दान करते समय भगवान के नाम रूप गुण
लीलाओ को सुनने से जीव को जन्म मृत्यु से
छुटकारा मिल जाता है। कार्तिक मास में व्रत रखना पुराणों में वर्णित है।
जैसे सभी युगों में सतयुग सर्वश्रेष्ठ है। शास्त्रों में वेद
सर्वश्रेष्ठहै नदियों में गंगा जी सर्व श्रेष्ठ है।
उसी प्रकार महीनो में कार्तिक मास सर्वश्रेष्ठ
है तथा यह मास भगवान को अत्यंत प्रिय है

भगवान श्री कृष्ण कहते है
सभी महीनों में मुझे कार्तिक सर्व प्रिय है।
सभी पोधों में पवित्र तुलसी सबसे अधिक प्रिय
है।सभी तीर्थ स्थानों में मेरी प्रिय
द्वारका मुझे सबसे अधिक प्रिय है। और सभी दिनों में मुझे
एकादशी सबसे प्रिय है ( पद्म पुराण)
अगर भगवान कृष्ण की कृपा प्राप्त करना चाहते है और
अगर उनके प्रिय बनना चाहते है तो कार्तिक में दीपदान
कीजिये और एकादशी का व्रत जरुर रखे और
हरिनाम करे।
