You will have to muster this ego through constant practice of self-subordination and humility with wisdom. One of the main objectives of Karma Yoga is the eradication of egotism. In the long run, if you happen to slacken your vigilance, you will be filled with the so-called spiritual egotism. You will not take interest in any form of work unless your name is associated with it. Even though you might wish to disseminate spiritual knowledge, you will be always desirous of self-glory and try to justify it through all sorts of childish arguments. Nothing can be worse in the life of a spiritual seeker. Therefore, be vigilant always.

There may be ups and downs, storms and stresses, smiles and tears, as you go on living your
life amidst its many vicissitudes, trials and tribulations. Do not lose faith but press on with a firm
conviction that God wants to mould you in His own image through sufferings and tribulations. Pray

fervently and wholeheartedly.

It is described as a burning pit of live coals, a well of grief, and even our lightning-like flashes of passing satisfactions are described as only deceptive forms taken by sorrows. If you practise introspection daily in silence, you will be able to find out its mysterious ways of working. This ego likes its own birth-place and province, the people of the province, its own mother-tongue, its own relations and friends, its own ways of eating, mode of dressing, etc. It has its own predilections and preferences. It likes to associate its name and form with the work done, even though its nature be spiritual.  P ray fervently to the Lord for the descent of the Divine Light. Crave for His mercy. Weep for His separation on account of Viraha. Yearn for communion with Him. Melt the mind in the Agni of Divine Love. Burn the body in the fire of devotion. Drink the honey of Prem. Let Sri Rama be your ideal. Ideals are remembered and adored for the purpose of adopting them in your own life. The Ramnavmi celebration or the Vasanta Navaratri every year is an opportune period for us to saturate ourselves with the spirit of Lord Rama. We love and adore our ideals because we express thereby our yearning to unite with them. In our worship of God it is implied that we should be virtuous, good and perfect even as God is. Hence the wise instruction: �One should become divine in order to be able to worship God�. One cannot be a real worshipper of Lord Rama unless one makes an honest attempt to grow in the virtues that the Lord represents. On the other hand, worship of Lord Rama is itself the surest means to develop such virtues.

Om is not Sanskrit, English, Italian or any language. It is not a language; it is an impersonal, universal vibration. All language is inside Om, as well as all literature and all science. Just as every piece of furniture is in the tree and every ornament is in the gold bar, likewise, every language, every sound is in Om, so when we chant Om we are going to the universal origin of things. Therefore, we have to chant Om very feeling-fully in this manner.
