The quality of meditation is dependent upon the character of the object of meditation. When the mind contemplates upon the divisionless Being, it itself becomes divisionless and vanishes into the Absolute.

FRUITS OF SELF-REALISATION

He who has realised the Paramartha, Tattwa (the real Atman) gives up form, caste etc., and rests in his own Swaroop that is all-full, pure consciousness and bliss. The distinction of knower, knowledge and knowable does not exist in the Supreme Atman. As it is pure consciousness and bliss, It shines by itself only. The fire of knowledge that is caused by the constant churning of contemplation on the wood of Atman will totally burn away the fuel of ignorance. If the ignorance is annihilated by knowledge, the Atman will manifest itself, just as the sun manifests as soon as the dawn of day has dispelled -darkness.

THE ABODE OF PEACE
Swami Sivananda
Withdraw yourself from external objects. Meditate and rest in your
soul. You will realise everlasting peace now. Nothing can bring you
peace, but yourself. Nothing can bring you peace, but the victory over
your lower self, triumph over your senses and mind, desires and
cravings. If you have no peace within yourself, it is vain to seek it
in external objects and outward sources.
Company of saints will take you to God quickly. The saints will make
you like themselves. The company of Sadhus will remove all the
impurities and make you pure. Their company will help you to remember
God constantly.

Peace is not in money, estate, bungalows and possessions. Peace does
not dwell in outward things, but within the soul. Money cannot give
you peace. You can purchase many things, but you cannot purchase
peace. You can buy soft beds, but you cannot buy sleep. You can buy
good food, but you cannot buy good appetite. You can buy good tonics,
but you cannot buy good health. You can buy good books, but you cannot
buy wisdom.
Death is beating its drum and coming nearer and nearer to you. Blow
the conch of OM. Put on the armour of discrimination. Wear the shield
of Brahman-Jnana. Death cannot harm thee. Thou art Immortal.

They enhance the spiritual vibrations of the ashram by their presence;
and, therefore, those
who permanently reside here in close proximity to Gurudev’s spiritual
presence receive, as it were,
a feast, a special shower of benedictions during this period. We are
given an opportunity of serving
them in any manner we can, of going out of ourselves to be helpful to
them, to elevate and sanctify
ourselves by selfless service. The Upanishads tell us that anyone who
gives us an opportunity for
paropakara (selfless service) is God. A visitor who gives us a chance
to adapt, adjust and
accommodate is our benefactor. Because Gurudev said that adapting and
adjusting ourselves is the
highest type of sadhana.

Peace is not in the heart of the carnal man. Peace is not in the
hearts of ministers, advocates, businessmen, dictators, kings and
emperors. Peace is in the hearts of Yogins, sages, saints and
spiritual men. It is in the heart of a desireless man, who has
controlled his senses and the mind. Greed, lust, jealousy, envy,
anger, pride and egoism are the enemies of peace. Slay these enemies
by the sword of dispassion, discrimination, and non-attachment. You
will enjoy perpetual peace.
He gives you such opportunities in this place where you are living
your serene life. He
brings occasions of inundating you with spirituality by bringing to
the ashram hundreds of sincere
seeking souls, so that your spiritual life once again becomes vibrant,
awake, alert and dynamic.
Why not see it in this way, rather than as an inconvenience? Instead
of looking at it in a
negative, non-productive way, why not look at it as a great
blessedness? They are not mere visitors.
They are devotees, sadhakas, lovers of God, people striving earnestly
like you for spiritual
perfection. So, with eagerness and longing to get away from their
secular atmosphere and have a little period of upliftment in a
spiritual atmosphere, they come for a week or two and fill this ashram
with the spiritual vibrations that emanate from their hearts and
minds, from their aspiration and
their vairagya and viveka.
