 Triveni Amavasya, or Tribeni Amavasya, is observed on the Amavasi or no moon day in Magh month (January – February) in Orissa. Triveni Amavasya on 11thfeb 2021 Thursday. as per traditional Oriya calendar. People take a dip in the holy rivers and have darshan of deities on the day. The day is observed as the birthday of Goddess Viraja.

On Tribeni Amavasya, Goddess Viraja at Viraja Temple in Jajpur is worshipped as Goddess Savitri. The highlight on the day is the chanting of the sacred Gayatri mantra. During the period a Tribeni Jatra is held at Bhapur near Puri.

IT is also known as mouni amavasya.Magh mela is celebrated at triveni sangam Allhabad and this is a day for auspicious bath..It is known as chollangi Ambasya in Andhra pradesh,and Darsh amavasya in other places..
Mauni Amavasya falls on the 15th day of the dark fortnight of Magh (January-February). Mauni Amavasya is believed to be the day of conjunction of the sun and the moon. Fasting is observed on this day. The devotees do not talk to each other during the observance of the Fast.Mauni Amavasya is a day of spiritual sadhana, to help us calm our restless minds.It is considered highly meritorious to bath in Triveni Sangam on this day.
