MESSAGE FOR CONTEMPLATION 1232

 MESSAGE FOR CONTEMPLATION 1232

Radhe krishna,
Have a blessed day,

ATTITUDE TO ADVERSITY

Swami Sivananda
Adversity is affliction, or misfortune, or calamity. It is an event or series of events which oppose success or desires. It is a state of unhappiness. Adversity is a blessing in disguise. It strengthens the will-power and the power of endurance and turns the mind more and more towards God. It is a virtue that makes the idle industrious. It draws out the faculties of the wise. It puts a man to the necessity of trying his skill. It has the effect of eliciting talents, capacities which in prosperous circumstances would have remained dormant. A smooth ocean never made one a dexterous captain of a ship,
Selection Of Food
The quality of food that you take, its quantity, and the time you take food, all are important.
A little immoderate food or improper time of taking food may affect your system and render
meditation difficult. You may not take costly food like Badam, but at least take moderate quantity,
take Sattvic food. The whole body should be restrained. You should live a life of moderation. When
Gurudev sings his song of “Eat a little, drink a little,” we have to understand it in its proper sense.
There are two parts of this song. “Eat a little, drink a little, talk a little, sleep a little.” When he say
these things he means ‘moderation’. These things should not be done too much. These are not said
in the sense that they are essential. It means that you must not overdo them.
Swami Chidananda

Motive or intention behind an act decides whether it is going to fetter the agent or leave him free. The larger the motive behind an act, the greater is the freedom of the agent concerned and the higher also is the value of the act.
