Saptapuri Amavasya is observed on Bhadra pad amavasya,new moon day.This year date 27th august,Saturday..It is observed mainly in puri jaganath temple,Huge quanttiies of sweets known as Saptapuri Tada are offered to the dieties.

Satapuri ( Saptapuri ) is a kind of sweet recipe made by stuffing variety of sweets (cottage cheese and coconut gratings etc.) in seven layers of puri and then frying in ghee. This is offered to Jagannatha on the amabasya of lunar month Bhadra. In many homes, the item is also prepared and offerSpecial pujas offered to lord jaganath on this day.ed to the deities.

Lanka Podi is a unique festival held at Sonepur in Subarnapur District of Odisha. It is observed annually on Bhadra Amavasya or commonly known as Saptapuri Amabasya as per traditional Hindu calendar.
