MESSAGE FOR CONTEMPLATION 118

AHAMKARA OR EGOISM

If you destroy the idea of I at the root of the tree (mind), then it will not again spring up. Atma-Jnana or the knowledge of the true nature of T is the fire which destroys this egoism. "Aham Brahma Asmi"—"I am Brahman" or identification with the Supreme Being is Sattvic Ahamkara. This Sattvic Ahamkara will not bind you. On the contrary, it will help you to cross this Samsara and attain Moksha or emancipation. That Ahamkara which makes you identify yourself with the body of flesh and bone is the cause of the poisonous tree of rebirth and dire pains. Destroy it by cultivating the Sattvic Ahamkara "I am Brahman," and enjoy the immortal Bliss of the Eternal.

Even so, spiritual science is a precise science where effort has to be put forth in the right direction. It is an exact scientific process, but only it is a divine science. It is a science that transcends time, space, here, there, now, then, and name and form, because it is the quest after the timeless, the eternal. It is the quest after the spaceless, infinite, boundless, limitless, immeasurable;but, nevertheless, it is an exact science, a transcendental science.
