INSTRUCTIONS TO DISCIPLES

Guru is dispeller of ignorance from the mind of the disciple. Just as service done to Guru purifies the heart of the disciple, so also faith in him opens the portals of the mind for the entrance of the divine light. Even greater than a mother′s love for her own child, is the love of the Guru for the disciple. The Guru teaches through personal example. Learn it and act wisely. The day-to-day conduct of the Guru is a living ideal to the disciple, who is observant. The life of the Guru is a living sermon to the sincere disciple. The form of the Guru is the root of Dhyana, the lotus-feet of the Guru is the root of Pooja, the word of the Guru is the root of Mantras, and the grace of the Guru is the root of salvation.

Right intention and right aspiration form the sheet-anchor of higher life. Spiritual aspiration
should ever be burning bright within the heart. It is the moving force that makes for progress in the
life of the aspirant. Then comes the factor—the all important factor—of Bhava. Spiritual feeling
should permeate the entire life and all activities of life. Bhava has the power to transform ordinary
activity into spiritual movement and render your life work into Karma Yoga. The harmony between
inner and outer life can only be achieved by such transmutation through Bhava.

O Guru! Without Thy infinite compassion, no Self-realisation is possible. Thy grace comes in the form of self-effort and meditation and Thy grace alone removes my ignorance. Sadhana is possible only with Thy blessing.
