GURU, THE PIVOT OF SPIRITUAL LIFE
Swami SivanandaWithout Guru you cannot achieve anything in the spiritual path. To light a candle, you need a burning candle. Even so, an illumined soul alone can enlighten another soul. The help and guidance of a Sat Guru is essential to cross this ocean of worldly existence. Devotion to the lotus-feet of your Guru is the first requisite in the spiritual path. If Guru is pleased, the Lord Himself is pleased; if Guru is displeased, the Lord is displeased. Grace of the Teacher, and the Mercy of the Lord give the firm conviction " I am Brahman" to the aspirant. God is Guru. Guru is God. Acharyavan purusho veda— He who has a Guru knows the Truth or the Absolute.
Guru doesn′t have to be physically present, he doesn′t have to do or demonstrate something. His very personality is nothing but the radiating of constant blessings.
