Nothing in this world—wealth, name, fame, victory—is worth a fig or straw without character. Character must stand behind and back up everything. It is not wealth or power, nor is it merely the intellect that governs the world. It is the moral character associated with moral excellence that really rules the entire universe.

Be simple in your life; do not become enslaved by too many desires. Multiplication of desires is not wisdom as it only invites greater agitation and restlessness.
