NEW YEAR PRAYER

0 Lord of compassion, love and wisdom! I have just now finished my stock-taking. The balance-sheet isn′t encouraging. Thou hast been kind and gracious to me: I have received more than I have given. Thou art the heart of my heart, Life of my life, Soul of my soul. Teach me to lead the Divine Life, O Lord! Be Thou gracious on me, So that I may be able to control the mind, and devote my time in service of Thee. Teach me, O Lord, how to forget the body, my pride, self-esteem and the material world. Give me strength to control my senses and transmute my emotions into pure devotion. Salutations unto Thee, O Lord, apple of my eyes! Let me ever dwell in Thee for ever and ever.

Direct your entire being—mind, intellect, emotions, sentiments, towards that one and only Being, the sole Source in whom there is enduring, eternal, unalloyed, unmixed, total happiness that would not decrease or change. That is Brahman. That is God. Make all your activities God-oriented by spiritualising them.
