MESSAGE FOR CONTEMPLATION.247
Radhe krishna,
Good morning and have a blessed day,
CONTROL OF THE WANDERING MIND
Swami Sivananda Meditation is the purest, deepest and the highest form of concentration. The mind works and moves with a tremendous speed which is impossible to be imagined. It catches one object and fabricates one idea, and through association it leaves the object and the ideas and there is a sort of concentration of some kind all throughout its wanderings, but it is not a continuous one. When the thought runs in one continuous and definite groove and further remains on one subject or object alone then it is concentration. Therefore, the vital point in concentration is to bring the mind to the same point or the object again and again by limiting its movements in small circle in the beginning. This should be the main aim and a time will come when the mind will stick to one point alone. The spiritual path is beset with trials. The aspirant must possess patience, zeal, courage, strong will and perseverance. - Swami Sivananda.
And in this process of discrimination, the classical content of this vivekais usually stated as discrimination between the permanent and the passing, the eternal and the non-eternal, the Self andthe non-Self, the Reality and the appearances. This is the traditional way, but in actual practical spiritual life upon the path ofyoga, discrimination is seen to be more than that.
Swami Chidananda.
