Sound of Divinity (26) - Sanskrit Hymn on Maha Vishnu in Octet - "Sri Satyanarayana Ashtakam"(Venkates stotra.48)
Satyanārāyaṇāṣṭakam
I adore Viṣṇu, Who is the Lord, Who is Satyanārāyaṇa, Who is the first deva, Who is the cause behind the world, Who possesses Śrī (Lakṣmī), Who is the Lord of the world, Who is Vibhu, Who is all-pervading, Who causes auspicion, Who bestows the desired to devotees, Who bestows liberation, and Who is Mādhava.[1]
I adore Viṣṇu, Who is the Lord, Who is Satyanārāyaṇa, Who is always studying the benefits of the world, Whose incarnation is for the protection of nature, cows and sages, Who is refuge of the poor and destitute devotees, and Who is beautiful.[2]
That on Whose right-side the auspicious River Gaṅgā embellishes, That on Whose left-side Rama is always present, that Whose bright face shines in a grand way — I adore that Viṣṇu, Who is the Lord, and Who is Satyanārāyaṇa.[3]
That Who should always be remembered, during troubles or conflicts, by the oppressed man for the destruction of personal anxiety, That by Whose graciousness one becomes completely satisfied — I adore that Viṣṇu, Who is the Lord, and Who is Satyanārāyaṇa.[4]
That Lord, Who likes devotion, Who bestows the expected and rare desires to the gentlemen — which are devotees of the consciousness, That Who is the refuge of every intellection, That Who is all sustaining — I adore that Viṣṇu, Who is the Lord, and Who is Satyanārāyaṇa.[5]
That by Whose devotion, the Brahmaṇa, the sanguine Vaiśya and the Kṣatriya (those with high flags), became noted and famous, That by Whose sportive play this world expanded — I adore that resplendent Viṣṇu, Who is the Lord, and Who is Satyanārāyaṇa.[6]
And That by Whom the entired grass-like mundane world and these manifestations are held, created and nourished — I adore that Viṣṇu, Who is the Lord, Who is Satyanārāyaṇa, Who is dear to devotional-emotions, and Who is the ocean of compassion and wealth.[7]
I adore Viṣṇu, Who is the Lord, Who is Satyanārāyaṇa, Who bestows all the desires, Who is always dear to truth, Who is adored by the demi-god group, Who is honored by the sages, Who bestows sons, grand-sons and all desires, and Who is eternal.[8]
That man, with devotion and emotions, who reads these eight-verses on Satyadeva three-times a day in happiness — his sins get destroyed just like fire burns up all the dry-fuel.[9]
