MESSAGE FOR CONTEMPLATION 235

LAW OF CAUSATION
Swami Sivananda Law and Law Giver are ONE, nature and nature's LAWS are ONE hence every event is the effect of some invisible force that works in happy concord and harmony and the law of Cause and Effect. A close study of this law gives encouragement to the ailing and desperate man. Destiny is created by man's thoughts, habits and character. There is every chance of correction and evolution by changing one's thoughts and habits. The scoundrel can become a SAINT and the beggar a KING. This mighty law provides this. The Law of Karma alone can explain these INEQUALITIES of this WORLD such as we see around us, and these inequalities are all due to KARMA. God is never unjust or partial. One event may be both cause and effect at the same time. This endless chain of cause and effect is kept up at all times, and no one can separate one link of this chain. An aspirant should possess courage, forgiveness, fortitude, purity, cosmic love, humility.

On the contrary, in spite of repeated knocks and blows and bitter experiences, the human mind is so inveterately foolish, so inveterately bound up in delusion, that it soon returns to its previous ruts and grooves. Again and again it goes back to its age-old pattern of behaviour. It is onlyin rare cases that vairagya becomes like an ignition, and a blaze issues out of it. By and large the mind does not easily change its nature.
